Dropped my macbook... repair or sell?
My 15" A1286 Aluminum Unibody MacBook Pro recently fell off of my counter and onto tile floor, doing the following damage:- Top, left corner of the aluminum housing for the screen is very slightly deformed.
- The SCREEN, not the LCD, is shattered in the top 1 square cm or so of the top, left corner. Two cracks go from the top, left corner down to the bottom, right corner.
- Several more cracks that don't impede vision have blossomed since. My fear is that these cracks will ultimately shatter and ruin the working LCD.
- The bottom unibody case is slightly deformed on the left side when looking from a profile view.Aside from this, the LCD works fine, the computer is in optimal shape under the hood (runs fast), and is a great machine.
My question is should I replace the:
- Screen
- Top casing
- Bottom unibodyor should I sell it as is. What would the cost for the PARTS (not the repair, I can do the labor myself) be, and what would I be able to sell my laptop for currently? If I can get 800 or so out of this computer, I could get a whole lot of windows laptop for that price.
So, again, I need these answers:
- cost of all the parts.
