My Macbook Pro's motherboard died. What is the cheapest method to retrieve important files?
It costs 2.3K to fix the motherboard since I don't have a warranty anymore. What is some cheaper method for me to retrieve my files A.S.A.P? They said they are able to take out my external hard drive for 0 but what am I suppose to do with that? Take it to another shop to retrieve my files? Can't they do it without taking my external hard drive out.ANSWER:
If your macbook is dead just buy a new one. TO get your files you will need to remove the hard drive and put in in an external case. You can remove the hard drive yourself. Since the macbook is dead you dont need to worry about breaking it really. You could try some of your local "mom and pop" places or Craigs list. Just make sure to tell them the problems that you are having. Who knows, your tech guy could be wrong...not many Mac experts are out there...
QUESTION:
Macbook motherboard failure?
I am the owner of an Apple Macbook and a few months ago it had crashed. Then my dad figured out how to fix it until a couple weeks ago when my motherboard crashed. I sent it in, paid the 0 dollars to get it fixed. Until just the other night it had froze so I referred to the manual and turned it off. By that point I was tired so I left it off insted of turning it back on like the manual suggests. So today when I went to turn it on it stays at the gray startup screen unresponding. Could my
Motherboard have failed Again or Is it something different? I'm on my iPod touch now but as much info as possible would be amazing thank you in advance!!!!!!ANSWER:
Put in the Mac OS X disk into the disk drive when turning on the computer. Then turn off the computer and hold down D. You should then be booting off of the disk. If this works your hard drive has failed not your mother board.
