What is Awesome About the MacBook i7 MC373LL/A ?

How To Connect Your Quad-Core Proccessor Macbook Pro To A TV Using Thunderbolt

You may have one of the new Macbook Pros (the one with the quad-core processors) and realized that it has a port on the left side with a new symbol on it - a lightning bolt. this symbol is beside the port that looks exactly like apple's mini displayport. it has the same shape, and mini displayport adapters fit exactly to it.

This new port is called thunderbolt and it can accommodate huge amounts of data. The reason this is good for you is that is that if you need to perform any type of large data import, such as HD video to be edited, the time it will take will be drastically reduced thanks to thunderbolt. The port will also be able to accommodate high-resolution displays very easily.

The other great thing about this new Thunderbolt port it that is that it is shaped exactly like the Mini Displayport that has been present on the last couple of generations of Macbooks and Macbook pros. Other adapters will fit this Thunderbolt even if the large transfer rates aren't supported or needed.

Clocking in at 10 Gbps data transfer rates, this is by far the fastest data transfer port ever on a Mac. Thunderbolt is 12 times faster than Firewire and 20 times faster than USB. This port is bi-directional, meaning you can transfer data in or out of your Macbook Pro using this blazing fast port.

As other devices and peripherals come on the market that support Thunderbolt, the shorter your wait times will be when transferring large files. Thunderbolt also has the added featuring of allowing more than one device to be daisy-chained to it and still work with efficiency.

But the great news for you, the new Quad-core Processor Macbook Pro owner, is that if you simply want to hook it up to an HDTV or Non-HD (analog) TV, you should have very little trouble. This Thunderbolt port allows you to utilize mini displayport adapters if that's what you still have lying around your house from older computers, or if you simply want to watch TV instead of hooking it up to a high-resolution monitor or screen.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. QUESTION:
How well will the Macbook Pro i7 Version Run Starcraft 2?
How well will it be able to run it? Like would it be smooth on medium or high settings, and how well does the macbook pro (i7) version run games?

    • ANSWER:
Perfectly. Blizzard works well with Macs.

  2. QUESTION:
I recently purchased a macbook pro I7. What do I ave to do to run windows 7 as well as osx?
I've heard of running bootcamp to do both operating systems. Do you need to buy a version of bootcamp or does it already come on my computer?

    • ANSWER:
Already there. Look in /Applications /Utilities for "Boot Camp Assistant". That isn't Windows. Were you looking for Windows also? Apple does not provide Windows with the computer. Get Windows at the link below.

The Boot Camp method prepares a hybrid partition that enables a Mac computer to install Windows and boot to Windows. You have to format the partition after booting to the Windows DVD. The result is Windows on the Mac will work just like Windows on any PC.

Another option is a virtual machine, such as Parallels Desktop, VMWare Fusion, or VirtualBox. This allows launching Windows while still booted to OS X. The performance in some areas is not as good, such as with games (no Direct X).

  3. QUESTION:
which is fast? macbook pro i5 , i7 processor or macbook air intel core 2 duo?
i'm planning to buy a new laptop.. and i heard the macbook air is work faster than the macbook pro i7.. guys help me out! what should i buy? macbook pro i5, macbook pro i7 or macbook air core 2 duo? which one of them work faster?

    • ANSWER:
The i7 is the fastest. Followed by the i5. The Core 2 Duo is the slowest.

When you heard that the Macbook Air is faster, they probably mean that it awakens the fastest due to an on-board SSD that enables an extremely fast boot/wake up. But the processor in the Air is in no way faster than an i5 or an i7.

  4. QUESTION:

Thinking of getting one. Can anyone tell me in as much specific detail as possible how well they run games, especially in regards to World of Warcraft frames per second? Thanks in advance.

    • ANSWER:
World of Warcraft will run on the highest FPS only if you have a good graphics card. That processor helps though.

  5. QUESTION:
How does an i7 laptop compare to the highest spec Macbook Pro?
More specifically I have a HP DV6t which has a 720QM i7 core processor. I'm not so good at all this computer jargon but I wanted to get a Macbook Pro but it was just too expensive. I want to know if this is more powerful than the best macbook pro you can get and also is this processor more powerful than any dual core processor out there even in high end dual core desktops? Thanks
