okay, more deets... I'm a college business accounting student and do not game with my computer (cause I have an xbox) and will primarily be using it for Microsoft office and the internet.ANSWER:
Generally speaking, you get more bang for your buck with a Dell. They are easy to work on, easy to upgrade (well, as much as a laptop can be upgraded), and generally very dependable. Parts can be had for relatively cheap on eBay. Macbooks are nice machine... hell, they are works of art. But they can be a real pain in the arse if you need to work on one. Parts are much more expensive, and Apple customer service isn't the most friendly or accommodating.If you are going to bring the machine into any sort of a networked environment, then you should probably go with a Dell unless you know the environment specifically supports Macs. Networking-wise, you're always safe going with a PC. Macs can be a huge pain to integrate into a networked environment where they don't play nicely with Active Directory, don't cooperate with most SIEMs, don't readily authenticate to many firewalls and NACs, just to name a few problems I've personally encountered. Oh, and don't listen to people who tell you Macs can't get malware infections. They certainly can. In fact, there's a Mac-specific piece of malware that is making the rounds right now. Check the links below.
Ultimately, you should get whatever best aligns with your needs. But all things being equal, I would go with the Dell.
