Black Macbooks

Macbook Pros and Cons
To begin with what exactly is the Macbook Air?
It's Apple's entry into the lightweight portable computer market known as the subnotebook
The 10 characteristics
- Cost
- The base 1.6GHz model costs ,799, 0 more than the top-of-the-line 2.2 GHz Black MacBook, and 0 less than the low-end 2.2GHz 15-inch MacBook Pro
- Weight
- 3 pounds
- MacBook weighs 5 pounds, the 15-inch MacBook Pro, 5.4 pounds, and the 17-inch MacBook Pro, 6.8 pounds.
- Size
- The wedge-shaped laptop actually tapers from 0.76 inches high at the back to 0.16 inches at the front. In terms of its width and depth, it's actually almost identical to the MacBook, at 12.8 inches wide and 8.9 inches deep.
- Trackpad
- The trackpad is capable of recognizing multi-touch gestures, similar to using an iPhone or iPod touch.
- Ethernet
- MacBook Air doesn't have it. If you need Ethernet connectivity, Apple will sell a 10/100BASE-T USB Ethernet adapter that connects to the USB port.
- Keyboard
- It's a full-sized MacBook-style keyboard, complete with square keycaps, in black. The keyboard is backlit, similar to those on the MacBook Pros
- Display
- The MacBook Air also has a 13.3-inch widescreen display with 1,280-by-800-pixels resolution. It also includes a built-in iSight camera
- Micro DVI ports
- Though the MacBook Air uses the smaller micro-DVI port rather than the MacBook's built-in mini-DVI, the computer otherwise has the same video capabilities as the MacBook: it will drive external displays as large as 1,920-by-1,200 pixels, including Apple's 23-inch Cinema Display, and can use that display as either an additional display or as a mirror of the laptop screen's contents. The MacBook Air also uses the same Intel GMA X3100 integrated graphics processor with 144MB of shared memory as the MacBook.
- Optical drive
- Apple's guess is that you'll have another computer in your house or office with a built-in optical drive. That's why it's included the new Remote Disc software with MacBook Air.After you've installed Remote Disc on any Mac or PC with a CD or DVD drive, the MacBook Air can connect to that computer and read the disc in the drive as if it were its own. When you click on the new Remote Disc item in the Finder's sidebar on the MacBook Air, you'll see a list of all the computers on your local Bonjour network that have Remote Disc installed. Click on a computer and one of two things will happen-either you'll just take control of the drive, or (optionally) the user of the other computer will be prompted to allow you to take control.
Frequently Asked Questions
QUESTION:
Black Macbooks are discontinued...but I really want the black color and the apple icon showing! What can I do?
I would get the black Macbook, but I want one with a warranty etc. Is there any black shell out there that can make the computer look black, but still show the light from the Apple icon? Thanks!ANSWER:
There is a company called ColorWare that will customize a Macbook for you (along with just about any other electronic device you can think of). It's a bit more expensive than buying a regular white MacBook, but if you really want a black MacBook, they're probably your best bet. You have two options when customizing, you can buy a regular Macbook and ship it to ColorWare, or you can order directly from ColorWare. They have all sorts of customization options, so if you wanted you could get rather fancy on how stylish your Macbook is.If you want a warranty, purchase from ColorWare. When ColorWare paints the Macbook, they have to dissemble it, which will void the Apple warranty. If you buy directly from ColorWare, you have the option of selecting a one or two year ColorWare warranty which will cover damage to your MacBook. The only downside is you'll have to work with ColorWare for warranty repairs, and I'm not sure how good their warranty service is.
If you're willing to risk it, you can buy an AppleCare protection plan after you've ColorWared the MacBook, but you would have to stick to phone support and replacing any parts yourself. If you take it to an Apple store you'll probably be laughed out of the place.
QUESTION:
Why are the black macbooks more expensive than the white ones?
It says that they have the same amount of memory, but why is the black one more expensive?ANSWER:
There are two reasons why the black Macbook's are more expensive then the white one's. They may have the same amount of memory, but there is a more powerful CPU (central processing unit) under the hood of the black Macbook. Also, the black one is a new color that Apple Inc. provides. Their laptops were usually white or silver until recently.I own a white Macbook and I think its not worth the money to buy a black one. I heard they are much easier to stain and to break. I love my Macbook!

QUESTION:
Why are Black MacBooks so rare and will mine increase in value?
I have one in perfect condition but love it. Will its rarity make its value increase among Macophiles? Or should I sell it now? But i love it so much! Thanks.ANSWER:
Because people are racist
QUESTION:
Does discoloration of the MacBooks apply to the black model? What about the Pro, are they all bent?
I went to a website called Apple Defects. The top two things that concerned me was the one that MacBooks discolor but it only mentions the white ones...and there was a review that an Apple Genius told a customer that ALL macbook pros are a bit bent...Which book should i get?
MacBook in black or MacBook Pro?
ANSWER:
The discoloration was a problem for the first gen White Macbooks in 2006. The newer models do not have the problem. As for which one to buy, it depends on your needs. You will only really need the Macbook Pro if you are going to be using programs such as Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Final Cut, or just really need the bigger screen. While the Macbook will run Photoshop and Dreamweaver great, the Pro will run them much faster.
QUESTION:
Is there a difference between the black and white macbooks?
I mean other than the looks and the visibility of dirt and everything, is there a real difference and is it true that the black ones cost more? and if the do how much more?thanks to anyone that can help

ANSWER:
the white macbooks have less giga bytes and giga hertz than the black one and the black one is much more faster.
